Why We Built My Workout Partners: Turning Solo Workouts Into Shared Motivation

A few years ago, while training for a marathon, my weekends looked very different from my weekdays.

On weekends, I ran long distances with an amazing group of people. We laughed, pushed each other, shared progress, and somehow the miles felt shorter. But during the week, training was a solo affair. No group. No shared motivation. Just me, the road, and my thoughts.

As someone who’s naturally social, those solo runs felt lonely—and honestly, boring. Some days, I skipped workouts entirely because no one would notice. There was no accountability, no encouragement, and no shared energy to keep me going.

Safety was another concern. Running alone early in the morning or after sunset never felt completely comfortable. I often caught myself thinking, “If something happened, could I really outrun an assailant?” That lingering doubt made solo workouts feel stressful instead of empowering.

The Idea That Changed Everything

During one of those lonely training weeks, a simple question popped into my head:

What if people could easily find workout partners who matched their schedule, pace, location, and activity type?

Not random meetups. Not awkward group chats. But a smart system that connects like-minded people who want to work out together for the same reasons.

That idea stuck.

What started as a personal frustration slowly turned into a vision—one that went far beyond running.

The more I thought about it, the clearer it became: this problem isn’t limited to runners.
